Project Summary

Progressive Leasing offers lease-to-own services and wanted to break into the mobile banking space to offer customers Progressive Leasing banking accounts and debit/credit cards. The mobile banking app needed to fill seamlessly into their product suite that stand out among the competition. I was the Lead UX Designer throughout the project cycle from strategy and discovery to design and testing. I collaborated with design, marketing, and engineering teams at Progressive Leasing.

The Challenge

The challenge was to design a modern, intuitive, and easy-to-use daily banking app that helps customers manage their personal finances more effectively while seamlessly fitting into Progressive Leasing's product suite.

My initial research revealed:

  • Most users a low level of financial literacy

  • To form new financial habits through the app, the interface should replicate patterns of behavior that are already familiar to consumers

  • The application interface should be accessible and clear

With a delicate user base, the challenge was to show just enough information for users to make informed decisions without overwhelming them. For example, the ability to show transaction history is an integral part of every banking application. How do my designs show enough information without overloading the user?

The Solution

The stages of my design process were:

  1. Identifying the primary user scenarios

  2. Analyzing and determining key app functionality

  3. Creating information architecture

  4. Exploring trending technologies to provide the most simple and clear solution for the user’s financial journey

  5. Creating a delightful design

By discovering the user's pain points and problems, I provided the users with immediate and simple accessibility to the information about their balance, as that is one of the most important and frequent tasks. Designing financial activity feeds inspired by social networks and other familiar platforms, I stimulated users' motivation to reach financial goals and ensured their personal finance management fit their needs. Clear UI hierarchy with overviews of page content delivered spending insights that provided real value to users. It was also important that I design for convenience, showing all financial insights at a glance, ensuring key data was at user's fingertips, and making authorization effortless.

I also drew heavily on the importance of financial literacy and wellness along with personalized goal-setting. My designs for Money App informs users about situations that requires their attention, helps to improve users’ financial health by monitoring it and providing recommendations, and makes financial forecasts and offers uniquely crafted possibilities according to the user's specific needs and goals. Money App is an advisor that's able to provide truly useful insights, based on the user's unique needs and requirements. This is achieved using the technology of full banking automatization, artificial intelligence in banking and predictive analytics.
